Court decision about business continuity of the Bosal Béthune facility

The global economic crisis has not only had a major effect on the car manufacturers but inevitably also on their suppliers. The sharp drop in car sales and production led to significant cutbacks in orders from existing customers, as well as the absence of new contracts and despite exploring all other options for its business and rigorous measures taken, the management of the Bosal facility in Béthune went to court in Arras. The court’s decision, announced today, is to place the Bosal Béthune facility into administrative receivership.

The Bosal facility employs approximately 300 people in its production plant located in Béthune. The plant primarily supplies exhaust systems for new cars to the French OEM customer base, which has been particularly badly hit by the actual economic downturn.

The court’s decision will be considered by local management to ensure that the appropriate course of action will be followed.

It should be noted that the two other Bosal plants in France, located in Reims and Mitry-Mory, operate independently from the Bosal Béthune facility and are therefore not affected by the court’s decision.

Separate from its OEM business, the aftermarket marketing and distribution activities of the Bosal Béthune facility, which has an annual turnover of approximately € 40 million in the French market and which employs 100 people, will be continued from the central warehouse and 8 regional depots.
