Material Expertise

The ambition to meet the ever-increasing demands of car manufacturers for more reliable, durable and lighter components is what drives BOSAL’s continuous search for high performance materials.

BOSAL has in-house developed test equipment for material characterisation with the aim of supporting its CAE, design and manufacturing engineering departments. Next to researching the materials, BOSAL also develops and validates complex processes for joining different material grades.

Thanks to its extensive experience, BOSAL has a deep understanding of material behaviour in conditions of forming, welding, extreme temperatures and aggressive environments.

    • Static stiffness testing
    • Dynamic properties analysis

Catalyst specific capabilities

The development of exhaust aftertreatment components demands an additional set of skills.

To interface the metal housing with the ceramic substrate, aftertreatment systems require an interface material (mounting mat). The converter needs to be robust in real world operation for the duration of the vehicle's lifetime and under all thermal and mechanical loading conditions. BOSAL uses dedicated test rigs for the material characterisation of mat mounts so that it can offer the best technical solutions at the lowest cost.
