BOSAL is a Dutch privately owned company, mainly known as a global Tier 1 automotive supplier, in business since 1923. Our corporate research center is based in Belgium, next to that we run 6 other R&D satellites worldwide, out of which one in Shanghai.
Our company is organized around 3 business areas:
- Powertrain: in this largest BOSAL division, we design and manufacture emission control systems (cold end + hot end) for passenger cars and heavy duty vehicles (ICE + hybrid)
- Chassis: this division comprises a large range of welded and formed products going from seat frames to fuel tanks and air tanks, to towbars and jacks.
- Energy: the Energy Conversion business unit of BOSAL designs and manufactures state-of-the-art plate and tube heat exchangers for advanced power generators. We have 20 years experience in the area of gas turbines and fuel cell systems, not only as a supplier of components but also as a system integrator.
Currently, we are looking for a CAD Designer in Shanghai, China to strengthen the R&D Product development team. In this position you design an automotive product using CAD, taking into account the design input from the development team and the requirements of the customer.
Responsibilities
You design products using CAD (Catia v5 or NX) and Bosal PLM, taking into account the design input from the project team members and following the Bosal Product Creation Process (PCP), the Design for Manufacturing requirements and the Bosal Design Engineering Manual.
This design work includes:
- creation of parts in the PLM, using the WSM (Work Space Manager)
- 3D design of the product in the available packaging
- 2D detailed drawings
- additional product specifications where needed
- You exchange CAD data with the customer
- You understand and follow the customer requirements for CAD
- You participate actively in the development team: generate new idea’s, challenge technical proposals, strive for break-through solutions,…
- You prepare product release packages:
- Create or update the product information in the Bosal PLM (including e-BOM)
- Prepare or update 2D, 3D and part information for milestones and gate reviews
- You support other Bosal R&D departments or other Bosal plants with product information and CAD support (on request), such as:
- 2D & 3D drawings
- Sketches
- 3D information
- additional detailed product information
- m-BOM drawings on request of the process engineer
By making this information available in the Bosal PLM.
Requirements
Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Product Design or Mechanical engineering
- Knowledge of CAD software: Catia and NX
- Fluent in English
- Excellent communicating skills
- Willing to travel
Experience
- Experience in automotive product design is a plus
